This is a state of decreased number of thrombocytes. It occurs because of a decreased production of thrombocytes in the bone marrow due to myeloproliferative process, lesions in the bone marrow caused by physical, and chemical or infectious agencies, in hypersplenism. They can be hereditary as well.
