This is a state of transiently or permanently increased number of thrombocytes. It occurs during acute hemorrhage, after surgical treatment, splenectomy, in myeloproliferative diseases (polycythemia and chronic granulocytic leukosis, lymphogranulomatosis), spleen atrophy, etc.
