MYELOBLAST

 

Description:

The first morphologically recognizable cell in the granulocytic series, and is of the round shape.

Size:

12-20 µm

Cytoplasm:

Clear blue, more heavily colored at its border. It is non-granular or may have a few azurophilic granules, depending on the stage of development.

Nucleus:

Large, round or oval and occupies about four fifths of the total cell area. It has a very fine chromatin meshwork.

Nucleoli

Up to seven clear gray-blue nucleoli.
