Description:
Heinz-Erlich bodies are composed of denatured proteins, primarily hemoglobin. They are formed by intra-erythrocytic precipitation of hemoglobin.
Size:
Changeable.
Shape:
They can be visualized by special staining procedures, e.g., acetyl-phenyl-hydrazine.
Significance:
They may be found in the following conditions: anemias caused by G6PDH deficiency, phenylhydrasine therapy, sulphanilamide therapy, -thalassemia.
