Description:

Round or oval cell.

Size:

19-27 µm.

Cytoplasm:

Dark basophilic, no granules. Chromatophilic areas caused by premature hemoglobinization may be seen.

Nucleus:

Round or oval, in a central or slightly eccentric position. Chromatin structure is coarser than in the preceding stage. Sometimes it has a tendency of gathering into small groups.

Nucleoli

Generally 1-2 nucleoli, not always visible.
