POCT

The Point of Care testing is laboratory testing conducted close to the site where patient care is delivered. Point-of-care testing (POCT), also known as bedside testing or near-patient testing, is intended to provide more rapid test results than can be achieved in central or satellite laboratory setting.

Preanalytical Control

The analyses performed by laboratories are subject to biological and technical influences, professional skills and enviromental effects. The laboratory should make a list with detailed instructions for specimen collection to minimize pre-analytical factors that could cause misinterpretation or misunderstanding of laboratory results.

Analytical Quality

The Careful evaluation of  the POCT procedure before its introduction is mandatory. This includes tests of precision, accuracy and linearity and, particularly, comparative measurements with the respective routine method used by laboratory.

The Detailed information about every analyte include: introduction, sample, principles of determination, clinical signification, risk factors, effects of drugs (analytical drugs interference), findings (interpreation of results).
